Explanatory Notes
1For Achievement, candidates must access information from at least two different sources from either category below: ·books, magazines, newspapers, pamphlets, internet, CDs, databases ·survey, interview, questionnaire, email, cellphone texting, telephone query.
For Achievement withMerit, candidates must access information from at least two different sources from the two categories above, at least one of which must come from the second category.
For Achievement with Excellence, candidates must access information from at least three different sources from the two categories above, at least one of which must come from the second category.
2Process information includes: ·collation from different sources ·evidence of some rewording.
3Competently process information includes: ·collation from different sources ·evidence of rewording.
4Effectively process information includes: ·collation from a range of different sources ·evidence of considerable rewording.
5Definitions: ·For the intended purpose includes both the relevance and accuracy of the information. ·Intended audience is the individual or group who will receive the information.Therefore, the amount and nature of the information and the level of the language must be appropriate to this audience. ·Techniquesto enhance the readability of text and/or produce high-quality readable text refer to structures that help produce easily readable text.Examples include use of bullets, tables and clear fonts.
6Acknowledging all sources in sufficient detail requires giving sufficient information for others to access the source, and generally will include: ·for a book source – author, title, date of publication and page number ·for a magazine or newspaper – name and date of publication ·for a website – full URL and date (updated and/or sourced) ·for email – the full email address and date of contact ·for a CD – title, year produced, name of article, search words if used ·for other sources – the relevant time/date/contact telephone number/email address – where appropriate.
7The candidate must be able to produce evidence of processing, eg by producing source documents and/or drafts along with the final copy.
8Guidance will be given to the student concerning the format (ie booklet, flyer, brochure), style, intended purpose and intended audience.
Quality Assurance 1Providers and Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against achievement standards.
2Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against achievement standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those achievement standards.
